After having a “tea walk”, we will visit a strawberry farm called Rumah Strawberry (Strawberry House) where we can pick our own strawberry fruits and make fresh juice. Beside fresh juice, Rumah Strawberry also serves many kinds of food. Just take a rest, enjoy your lunch with the beautiful view of strawberry farm.

Saung Anklung Udjo

Saung Angklung Udjo (SAU) was established in January 1967, contributed by Mr. Udjo Ngalagena and his wife Mrs. Uum Sumiati Udjo. SAU is the place where angklung and other bamboo instruments are made and played. SAU also the place where children are singing, dancing and playing bamboo instruments.

Here you will find the Sudanese traditional bamboo musical concert performed by a small group of children with colorful and beautiful dances. See their dynamic performances and natural expression. You may not believe that the children performing in the concert are less than 12-year-olds. performances and traditional dances such as Tari Topeng (Mask Dances), Wayang Golek demonstration (puppet show) and many more. You could feel the sophisticated atmosphere when you experience a try on playing angklung and being part of our performance all at once. You can see, learn and play "The Angklung," one of Sundanese tradtional musical instrument, with the colorful performances, the beautiful dances, and we would in the end dance in unity for a fabulous experience.

SAU is one of the tourist attractions for families, it's attractive and adductive. And SAU is one perfectly province tourism object and important in West Java.

Tangkuban Parahu Volcano Mauntain

You can see it at almost anywhere in Bandung, but it is not complete before you see its crater. If you're in Bandung, take a look at the north side and find an unusual shape of mountain. The name itself comes from the local Legend of Sangkuriang ("Legenda Sangkuriang") about a disobedient son who kicks his boat upside-down and then cursed into stone. Hence the name of this mountain. Tangkuban = flipped and perahu = boat; means the shape of the mountain similar to a flipped boat. It's still an active volcanic mountain.

The crater is reachable by car, though it is fun to do hiking to the top by foot from Lembang. Its elevation is 2084 m above the sea level and the path from Lembang is not too steep. At the crater, it is a touristic spot. You can smell the sulfur, watch the hot water springs very closely or even purchase boiled eggs from the hot surface.

To comfort your stay in Bandung, during the program, you will divide into three groups. In one group, there will be six Ajou Students and two students from Unpad as a group leader. Please feel free to ask them if you need information or help during the program.

Housing

On the first day, due to late arrival, you would be staying at Wisma Dago (hotel). However, after the opening ceremony and as the program enhances you would be staying with a host from Universitas Padjadjaran.

Food

All food and beverage purchases would be under all individual responsibilities. The committee will only provide food and beverages for certain events (lunch) including Welcoming Reception, Courtesy Call by the Unpad Rector, and the closing ceremony.

Transportation

- Angkot

In Bandung, Public Transportation called Angkot or Angkutan Kota. This city transport has only origin and destination names on top. Sometimes with via description if there are more than one angkot route for a certain origin-destination route. There is no route description anywhere. For locals, it is somewhat amazing that they only memorize where and how the route of each angkot route.

Although there is an official price for angkot from organda (the local organization of these private city transport), sometimes price is based on how far you travel. It is better that you ask the driver or kernet (driver assistance) about the price to go to a location. To ask for an angkot to stop and pick you up, just raise your hand and they will stop. When you're inside and want to stop, just ask the kernet to stop. Or say 'kiri' (key-reey) or simply 'stop' out loud. It was easy to find a bell that you can press to stop but not anymore. Most angkot fare are ranging from 2000-3000 rupiah (about 25 cents USD) depends on the route and distance.

- Taxi

If you don't know which angkot routes to take, then you can take a taxi. Officially, taxis use meters, but some taxi drivers may refuse to use meters and will charge you a fixed price instead. Don't be afraid to refuse and walk away, even locals are annoyed by this behaviour. Metered cabbies may also take you the long way to get more money. So be careful when travelling by taxi. The most reliable taxi company (i.e always use the meter, go straight to the destination) in Bandung is Blue Bird.

Final Assignment and Culture Performance

Before the program finished (on the Closing Ceremony) you have to due the final assignment. You can write a resume about the topic in the classes and lectures you have entered and also you have to perform what you have learn in the culture workshop at Closing Ceremony.

BRIEF INFO ABOUT INDONESIA, WEST JAVA, BANDUNG,

AND UNIVERSITAS PADJADJARAN

a. Indonesia: Lets Go Archipelago

The name of Indonesia has its roots in two Greek words: "Indos" meaning Indian and "Nesos" which means islands. It is an appropriate description of the archipelago as there are estimated to be a total of 17,508 islands, of which only about 6,000 are inhabited, stretching for 5,150 km between the Australian and Asian continental main lands and dividing the Pacific and Indian Oceans at the Equator.

Five main islands and 30 smaller archipelagos are home to the majority of the population. The main islands are Sumatra (473,6O6 sq.km

), Kalimantan 1539,400 sq.km
), Sulawesi l 189,216 sq. km), Irian Jaya (421,981 sq. km), and last but not least Java (132,187 sq.km
); home to 70 percent of the country's population. Indonesia shares Irian Jaya with Papua New Guinea and two thirds of the island of Kalimantan with Malaysia and Borneo.

Indonesia is rich of cultures. Each island has many kinds of different tribes which has its own characteristics of its cultures. For example, it can be seen from the way they life, religions and believe, traditional arts, myths, included their local language.

In Indonesia there are about 583 languages which are normally belonging to the different ethnic groups of the population and dialects spoken. Some of the distinctly different local languages are: Aceh, Batak, Sundanese, Javanese, Sasak, Tetum of Timor, Dayak, Minahasa, Toraja, Buginese, Halmahera, Ambonese, Ceramese, and several Irianese languages. To make the picture even more colourful, these languages are also spoken in different dialects. Furthermore, in uniting the local languages, Indonesia used the national language known as Bahasa Indonesia.

b. West Java Province: The Glittering Heart of Indonesia

From the 17,000 islands which made up the archipelago of the Republic of Indonesia, Java has historically been considered the heartland. Where Java has led-culturally, economically and politically down through the centuries, and followed by the other islands. On Java, still the most densely populated island of Indonesia, there are five Provinces. West Java is the largest, with the greatest population, and, some would claim, with the most pride.

West Java Province is located at part of western Java Island. The enchanting of Sunda land stretches from Sunda Strait in the west to the borders of Central Java in the east. The locals have known West Java Province as the Land of Sunda. The region is primarily mountainous, with rich green valleys hugging lofty volcanic peaks, many of which surround the capital of West Java province.

West Java was of the first contact points in Indonesia for Indian traders and their cultural influences, and it was here that the Dutch and British first set foot in the archipelago.

This province has its own uniqueness, culture and language, adding up to the whole essence of what's called Sundanese

c. Bandung: Parijs van Java

Bandung is the capital city of West Java, Indonesia. Located in the central highlands at an altitude of 768m, the city is known for its many universities, textile industries and many roadside cafes. Called Parijs van Java (Paris of Java) by the Dutch, its high altitude location makes the weather pleasantly cool. The city is also known for its rich variety of foods. Thanks to all of this, Bandung is a very popular weekend escape for Jakartans, who crowd into the city on weekends and national holidays.

Bandung's nickname is Kota Kembang, literally meaning 'The Flower City'. However, this has nothing to do with horticulture: Bandung's "flowers" refers to its famously beautiful girls.
